Buxton Beach Closing For Groin Repair

Cape Hatteras National Seashore has announced that it will temporarily close a section of Buxton beach and swimming area starting Aug. 3 for the $8.6 million groin repair project, part of a broader Dare County beach nourishment effort in the village. The closure is meant to keep the public safe during construction on the seashore's southernmost groin. The project has been in planning for months and marks one of the more significant infrastructure efforts on Hatteras Island this year.
